Ruth Glasgow

Hello! I'm Ruth,
the hands behind Awhi ceramics.

"Awhi" is a Te Reo Māori word that translates to "to embrace, hug, cuddle, cherish" it is a verb that implies love and care. This is what I aim to put into each piece I make and a feeling I hope everyone can relate to when given a hot drink by someone who loves and cares for them.

Sharing food and drink is deeply embedded in many cultures and is an opportunity to care for and embrace our loved ones, as well as ourselves. I make functional ware to make these moments  and rituals in our lives a little more special.

I started my pottery journey just before lockdown and, fuelled by the endless quest to find the perfect mug fell in love with pottery.

Handmade with Love

Each piece of pottery is  unique, created in my tiny studio at home in Hamilton.  Lovingly handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, no two pieces are exactly alike. This means you are getting a truly special and individual work of art.

We aim to ship orders promptly, within 1-2 working days of purchase. Our packaging is designed to protect your pottery during transit, so it arrives in perfect condition.

If you wish to collect your piece, please select "Local delivery" upon checkout. We love meeting our customers and are happy to arrange a convenient pickup time at our Hamilton studio.

We hope you are thrilled with your purchase and love them as much as we do. If you have any problems or concerns, please reach out to us.
